Subject

Investigation and characterization of Pyridyl-, Porphyrin- and Corrole-based metal complexes in confined geometries

A new type of molecular complexes based on porphyrinoid or pyridyl-carbene scaffolds immobilised in mesoporous materials can be used for electrocatalytical or photoelectrocatalytical applications, possibly facing one of the most important challenges of humanity, the reduction of CO2 towards more valuable carbon products. In this project within the SFB1333, we will show in-depth information on the photo- and electrocatalytic processes, as well as the influence of the immobilization and confinement on these processes with UV-Vis-NIR/IR/EPR-spectroelectrochemistry and Mößbauer spectroscopy. In addition, the setup of a transient UV-Vis and trEPR spectroscopic method will allow photodynamic investigations.
